Frequently Asked Questions

What fields are available for return in a search result?

See the "Result" fields listed here.
What fields are available for filtering and faceting?

See the "Facet" fields listed here.
Are all ASN Standard Documents included in ASN Search?

Yes, all ASN Standard Documents (Published, Draft and Deprecated) are available. You can easily apply filters to the publication_status field to search for just Published standards or omit for the entire ASN. See Getting and Using Facet Information and Searching Literal Fields for different ways of filtering.
Are all ASN Statements included in ASN Search?

Yes, all standards are available as search results (Indexable and Non-indexable Statements). You can easily apply filters to the indexing_status field to search just for Indexable statements or omit all statements (including header statements). See Getting and Using Facet Information and Searching Literal Fields for different ways of filtering.

Note: The description field contains an array of that statement's taxon path regardless of its indexing_status value.
What's a taxon path?

A taxon path is a single traversal of a branch of a standard- from the root to a leaf. This re-contextualization by the taxon path is fundamental to human comprehension of the standards since many atomic statements, standing alone, convey insufficient meaning. We index ASN Statements for search using the full taxon path, "root-to-leaf" and not just the "leaf" level which provides a more accurate search when searching for particular learning objectives.
Do all ASN standards have linked concept terms?

The ASN has recently started tagging all new standards with concept terms from other linked data sources where applicable. This linking is also found in the original ASN:US dataset and is not unique to ASN Search.
